Professional Jewellery Polishing

A super specialised Course particularly suited to professionals and advanced amateurs. The great international jewellery Brands today demand a level of absolute excellence in polishing and the Course responds to this demand. You will gain in-depth knowledge of the tools, techniques and tricks of the trade to pass the strict microscope quality controls of major companies and customers. An essential Course that leads the student to develop the right mindset for ‘zero tolerance’ in polishing. The goal? To achieve an absolutely perfect piece of jewellery.

A certificate of attendance will be issued at the end of the Course program.

Program

An introduction to the total quality approach of leading jewelry houses. Future trends and tolerance criteria. Detailed presentation and instructions on the use, cleaning, and organization of the polishing bench and finishing tools, from rough polishing to the final mirror finish.

The stages of professional polishing: preparation, pre-polishing, and final polishing. Basic equipment for specific processes: polishes, brushes, felt, small brushes, and steel wires. Overview of electroplating baths, tumbling, and electropolishing. Criteria for evaluating the quality of the finished product with naked eye and under magnification (3x–10x). Introduction to artisanal and/or mass production methods. Overview of equipment preparation and maintenance with practical demonstrations, hands-on polishing exercises.
